You might think it is the bright apple green of Lemongrass which is so hot right now.
Or the new neutral grey of Fog Bank

All of these are top sellers for sure, but the number one all time best selling Lush glass subway tile is…Cloud White!
Surprised? Not really right? White goes with everything so it’s no big surprise that it is our best seller. Not all whites are created equal, however. We’re picky here at modwalls and we think that’s the reason that our Cloud bright white Lush glass tile is so sought after.
You see it’s very difficult to get a true bright white when firing color onto the back of glass to make subway tile. Most glass has either a green or blue tint to it, which affects the finished look of the tile when a pale color such as white is baked onto the back of the glass. Here at modwalls we only use ultra clear glass for our white and pale colors. It’s more expensive but we know that it is worth it to get that bright crisp white that we demand. You can’t argue with these results now can you?

My Full Circle Moment with Rex Ray
I discovered Fine Artist Rex Ray’s work about 4 years ago. Two girlfriends and I found ourselves in San Francisco for the evening and decided to try The Slanted Door restaurant for the first time. It was a busy Saturday night and without reservations we were seated at the large communal table in the back of the restaurant. What luck that was. I was seated directly across from one of the most exuberant pieces of art I’d ever seen.

The piece was a Rex Ray. I then noticed other works by this artist were placed throughout the main dining room. I was instantly a fan and have followed his work ever since.
Flash forward a few years and, while working away here at modwalls I received a call one day from Rex Ray’s licensing agent wanting to discuss putting his designs on our tile. I could hardly believe it. We had been promoting good design through creative partnerships like our Tattoo tiles featuring the work of local Santa Cruz artists and our Henry Road for modwalls with the fresh textile designs of Paula Smail on our Lush® glass tile. Those collections gave Rex Ray’s people the idea that we would be the right company to work with him to bring his Rex Ray Studio designs to tile for residential and hospitality projects.
From my giddy first meeting with Rex and his team to our launch of the Rex Ray Studio for modwalls collaboration I have been pinching myself with delight. We showed the first round of designs called Type Tiles at Dwell on Design in Los Angeles this past June. It was a favorite of the attendees who visited our booth and was even noted at a pick of the show on the LA Times Home Blog,

The next chapter in my fan affair with Rex is playing out now. A few weeks ago he and his business manager Tim came to our offices to work on the next designs for the collection. As we all stood around the table working out the new tile designs I was happily remembering that evening at the Slanted Door when it all started for me, and I had to pinch myself again.

It’s hung across from my desk on my bright green office wall, the same vantage point I had when I saw my very first Rex Ray four years ago. I get to stare at it every day now and it makes me happy on many levels.

Lately we’ve been collaborating with more and more designers and home owners in creating dream backyards with modwalls® tiles and we couldn’t be more excited about it! Tile can be the jewel of any pool remodel and modwalls® has hundreds of in stock modern tile designs, unique tile colors and tile blends that are perfectly suited for any outdoor tile installation.

Modwalls® ¾” Brio glass tiles are our most popular outdoor tile option. And why you ask? Because we’ve got almost every solid color under the sun available starting at $4.25 for a 1.15 square foot sheet; we have our signature, super affordable stock Brio® blends starting at $5.95 a sheet, and we can create a completely CUSTOM Brio® blend out of any combination of our Brio® Color, Brio® Pearl, Brio® Clear or Brio® Shimmer tiles within about 2 weeks.
modwalls® Brio® Shimmer tiles make a perfect pool border. This is our Brio® "Blueville" tile.
Our 8mm thick, kiln fired Lush® glass tiles are being used more and more for pool & hot tub tile remodels. We stock a variety of sizes and array of colors in our Lush® rectangle subway options, modern mini-subway tile blends as well as square tile options, all perfected suited for your pool remodel. And our artistic Lush® Henry Road tiles are an amazing accent tile used alone, or you can create a “tile wallpaper” effect by installing a whole wall of tile. The result is AWESOME! Lush® 1x1 blends & 3x6 subway tiles were used in these pool installations.
