Diane von Furstenberg knows how to Live With Color.
I mean really LIVE with, in, around and about color!
I’ve been watching her new reality show, House of DVF, about interns vying for a job as a Brand Ambassador for her fashion empire.
While I’m underwhelmed by the immaturity, and in-fighting of the interns, I’m in Love with the DVF brand and the brilliant woman who created it.
Diane von Furstenberg has been making women look effortlessly chic for years.
Her signature wrap dress is at home in every setting and on every woman. I’ve been a fan for as long as I can remember.
Watching this show is a master class on her joyous sense of color and print not to mention business and marketing acumen. The latest collections are bright and beautiful with unexpected mixes of colors and bold designs.
And her office is also bursting with color. Not in a cluttered way but in a way that makes me feel as if I could do my best work there.
Take for instance those woven cloth side chairs in her office at DVF HQ – Where can they be found? I’m on a quest.
The finale to the show is coming up. I’m rooting for Brittany if she can get her ego in check. We’ll see if it works out for anyone and if the company decides to do this show a second time. It seems like a big headache for the DVF team but certainly showcases the brand well.
What I’ve come away with is that Diane von Furstenberg is a fair and generous leader who is taking a bite out of the world in her own classy way. This woman knows how to Live With Color! And don’t we all want to do just that?
The Annual Sunset Celebration Weekend at the magazine’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California took place on June 1st and 2nd.
It was my first time at the event and, while we’ve been fortunate to have our tile in the actual magazine several times in annual showcase houses and even in an article about our business many years ago, this was our first experience at being included in the Celebration Weekend.
Having never attended before, I really didn’t know what to expect but I couldn’t wait to experience the event and see our tile installed in the exhibition. My husband and I piled the sunscreen on our 9 year old twin boys and drove up North about 45 minutes from our home.
Our first stop was the Re-Imagining the Sunset Home exhibit. Five hot up and coming designers were given inspirations from spaces featured in Sunsets from decades past and asked to re-imagine those spaces for today, while keeping the feel of the original design aesthetics. It was like an IKEA showroom “on steroids” with room upon room of “aha” design choices, including a stellar outdoor area.
Modwalls Lush 1×4 glass weave patterned tile (created by our own in-house interior designer Katelyn Bowman) was used in the shower of the Master Bath. It was selected by designer Vanessa DeVargas of the popular blog Turquoise-LA.
Here’s a collage of the tile and some other standouts from our tour of the Re-Imagining the Sunset Home exhibit:
We were honored and thrilled to see the fantastic installation of one of our newest product lines!
After touring the home we spent the rest of the afternoon in wonder at all of the sights and sounds that living in the West has to offer. Tops on our list were the many Foods, Wines and Garden ideas we saw and sampled. The kiddos had a blast too. There was even a rock climbing wall and more for the kid in all of us! Here are some shots of just a few of our favorite things:
I’d highly recommend attending this annual event whenever you can from wherever you are. We’ll be back that’s for sure!
